A Winter's Reward
Framed 20" x 16" Limited Edition Giclee Print, 2009 (Age 13)
Following the harsh winter, on the successful completion of the father's difficult task of protecting the egg, the penguin mother returns just as the baby hatches from under the dad's pouch. What a wonderful reward for their efforts! This scene of the little penguin family is repeated as far as the eye can see, and we are treated to it in the comfort of our own homes because of the dedication of scientists and videographers who captured it in the barren icy landscape of Antarctica. Starting with a blank canvas, I completed the main colour blocks for this painting during a “Celebration of the Arts” at my church, Paramount Drive Alliance Church in Stoney Creek. Since they had seen it being painted, a few people who were there wanted to purchase the original, but of course only one could. Others requested prints and I was happy to make these available for the first time, so that more people could enjoy my art in their homes.
