FORTHCOMING SERIES (In Progress)
STREAMS IN THE WASTELAND
This body of work explores the theme of wild animals inhabiting abandoned spaces through the avenue of meticulously crafted, shaped oil paintings. Tiessen's style is Narrative Hyperrealism in the New Contemporary movement, which lends itself to the spiritual and environmental messages he wishes to convey. Comprising four years of work, the series was unveiled to the public at Tiessen's debut U.S. solo exhibition at Jonathan LeVine Projects, Jersey City NJ
SELECT WORKS
Since 2014 Tiessen's work has taken an innovative approach, breaking out of the traditional quadrilateral format to shaped paintings. This allows the subject matter to dictate the shape of the painting, sometimes literally like the basketball backboard of Defending The Paint, or subtly like the diamond shape of the compass in The Wood Between The Worlds.
