Completed between 2015-2021 this body of work explores the theme of wild animals inhabiting abandoned spaces through the avenue of meticulously crafted, shaped oil paintings. Tiessen's style of Narrative Hyper-surrealism in the New Contemporary movement lends itself to the spiritual and environmental messages he wishes to convey. Streams in the Wasteland was unveiled to the public at Tiessen's debut U.S. solo exhibition at Jonathan LeVine Projects (Jersey City, NJ) in May 2019 and Streams in the Wasteland II was exhibited at Corey Helford Gallery (Los Angeles, CA) from December 2020 - January 2021.
